What is a Community Cat?

Community cats, often labeled feral, stray, or loosely owned, are part of the communities we all share. They may not have traditional homes or owners, but their lives matter. At Southwest Cat Initiative, we’re changing the way communities think about and respond to these cats. Through education and humane solutions like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), we reduce the burden on animal shelters and help cats thrive in their communities.

Together, we can create a better future for community cats and the communities they call home.
